Cool baths containing Epsom salts or medicated shampoos help relieve the itchiness and rashes to some extent. There are sprays available that contain cortisone. These also aid in immediate relief. If these do not work you have to get your pet tested for allergy or give him medications to treat the allergy.
The medications used commonly in treatment of allergies are cortisone and antihistamines. Omega-3 fatty acids also help to alleviate the reactions to a certain extent. These can be administered to the pet under the guidance of the veterinarian. If an allergy test is done and the allergen identified you can avoid exposing the pet to that specific allergen, like for instance if molds are found to be the cause then you can clean the dog’s surrounding and keep him from coming in contact with the molds.
