If you allow it, cats can be talkative and they do it with their meowing and howling. This is especially true if you own a Siamese cat. During the day, Siamese cats are quite capable giving you an earful of meowing and howling.
The following are tips on how to stop excessive cat calling and meowing and how to stop the howling:
Give them the cold shoulders – We all know that cats are big time attention grabbers. They will call and meow and will not basically stop until they get your attention or what they want. If you want to stop this act, then give them the cold shoulders and just ignore them. You can only turn back to them once they are calmed down and quiet again.
Proper feeding – This is one of the reasons why they keep on calling your attention, they are always hungry. So if you feed them properly, or stuff its food dish with enough food, then you will avoid the excessive calling or meowing of your cat.
Check on your cat for any pain – If you think that your cat is meowing for no reason at all, then maybe your pet is in pain. The best way to stop its meowing is by checking your pet’s whole body. If it goes on, and you still can’t find the source of pain then it is time that you bring your pet to a vet.
Spay your cat – At the age of 5 to 6 months, a cat will reach its sexual maturity. This will also make your pet meow and even howl a lot as a result of your pet going in heat. If you spay your cat it will save you from excessive howling, and litter or kittens.
Cat doors – A lot of cats (even though they are pampered and well-loved), they will still want to be allowed to go out. And then, once they are out there, they will call your attention to be let in again. And this can happen a lot of times in a day so it is better to invest in cat doors. Once you have this, your cat can go in and out of your house as it pleases without meowing and howling a lot for your attention.
An older cat – At night, you will be able to hear your older cat meowing and howling for no reason at all. This can be attributed to them experiencing an illness similar to human’s Alzheimer’s. They howl simply because they experience disorientation and sometimes, they simply cannot find their own way even while they’re inside their own turf. The best way to cure this is by consulting your Vet for the right treatment or medication.
Excessive cat calling and meowing can be stopped if only you know what to do when they start to act that way.
